Ginseng is popular in Chinese culture, and here in Canada it’s often incorporated into teas and other herbal remedies, but did you know that Ontario is the world’s largest exporter of American ginseng to China?
It is incredibly difficult to grow, and can never be planted in the same ground twice. Ginseng is also grown for a minimum of three years before being dug up for sale. It is grown covered as it is requires shade to prosper.
These are shots of ginseng, now in the stage of going dormant for winter- the seeds (looks like berries) are harvested for future plantings.
